Torex Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (Managing Director, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan: Koji Shibamiya Daiichi Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6616, hereinafter referred to as “TOREX”) developed a load switch IC with ideal diode function, XC8110/XC8111 series.
The XC8110/XC8111 series reproduce the ideal diode function and are equipped with load switch ICs with chip enable function (CE), overcurrent limit, inrush current limit, and thermal shutdown function. This IC has an ideal diode function. Compared with Schottky diodes that are commonly used to prevent backflow, the voltage corresponding to VF is reduced to 20mV, which is about 1/20 of the VF of Schottky diodes, realizing low loss. In addition, not only is VF as low as 20mV, the return current from VOUT to VIN is also 0, which means that it has perfect diode characteristics. The above characteristics make the output OR circuit easier to implement and can suppress the consumption of the backup battery.
The current limit adopts two methods: constant current limit and foldback current limit. The foldback current limiting method can suppress the short-circuit current to 50mA, and it can be used safely even if a short-circuit occurs. In addition, it is equipped with a thermal shutdown function to prevent damage to the IC due to high temperatures.
The thin package USP-6B06 (h = 0.33mm) is suitable for applications with narrow device heights.
