Israel is world-renowned for its technologies in the fields of electronics, communications, and the Internet. The development situation and the achievements of the lock are also gratifying. From basic components, chip design, assembly, and testing industries to technological development in the fields of consumer electronics, security, and digital entertainment, Israeli companies are in the forefront of the world.
Reporter: After the outbreak of the international financial crisis, the global electronics industry has been affected to a certain extent. Israel is one of the most important exporters of electronic technology in the world. What measures have been taken in response to this international financial crisis?
AviHeftz: In response to the international financial crisis, the Israel Export and International Association will launch a project, mainly to help Israeli domestic companies export. This work was first initiated in the BRIC countries (China, India, Russia and Brazil), and gradually expanded to 11 countries with great market potential, including Vietnam, South Korea, Pakistan, Mexico, and Turkey.
Reporter: Israel's technology in the electronic field is world-renowned. For example, flash drives and instant messaging tools were invented or developed by Israelis. Can you briefly introduce the basic situation of Israel's electronics industry?
AviHeftz: Israel's electronics industry is in a leading position in the world, and it is one of the few countries in the world that is very famous in the field of electronic information, especially in the design and production of semiconductor products. Many well-known high-tech companies are distributed along the northern coast of Israel. For example, Haifa has gathered the world’s leading multinational companies, such as Microsoft, Google, etc. The Haifa Science and Technology Park has approximately 8,000 companies and 150,000 scientific and technological personnel. Consumer electronics, components, and semiconductor manufacturers have close ties.
Reporter: Most Israeli companies are engaged in chip design and development. In the field of terminal products, it is difficult to see the products of Israeli companies. Is this a characteristic of Israeli companies?
AviHeftz: Israeli companies are mainly engaged in the design of chips or components, and rarely in the production of end products, so your judgment is correct. Because Israel's technology is mostly used in products, it is rarely seen by consumers.
Israelis are mainly engaged in basic research and development, such as chip design in audio and video, storage equipment and other fields. U disk was invented by Israelis, Intel’s Centrino and Pentium 4 processors were also developed in Israel, and the image processing chip and touch screen in DVD were also developed in Israel.
Reporter: China has world-renowned large companies such as Hisense, Haier, Huawei, and ZTE, but Israeli companies have more technological advantages in certain areas. What do you think of the prospects of cooperation between Israeli companies and Chinese companies?
AviHeftz: Israeli companies and Chinese companies have broad prospects for cooperation, and Chinese companies also have strong technological capabilities. In July, when we go to China, we will also visit several Chinese companies, such as Hisense and Haier, and hope to have good cooperation with them. In 1994, I went to Hong Kong, China for the first time to participate in the Electronics Fair, and I saw many high-tech consumer electronics products and many large Chinese electronics companies. This is very fortunate. The cooperation between Israeli companies and Chinese companies today will create more opportunities and markets.
The output value of semiconductor design alone in Israel's electronics industry is as high as US$2 billion per year, mainly exported to Japan, the United States, South Korea and China. The product design and market planning of many electronic companies around the world are completed in Israel. China is one of the more potential markets. Israel will strengthen cooperation with China in this field. We will focus on recommending 40-50 Israeli companies to China, such as Modu, Lumus, Explay, etc.
Israel’s performance in electronic technology has also given us a higher development goal, how to better develop the electronic technology industry.
